Metro East business helps kick off Bowl for Kids’ Sake campaign
Allsup employees increased donations by more than $2,500 over last year’s tally. Belleville-based Allsup is a nationwide provider of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation and Medicare plan selection services. The fundraiser was held at St. Clair Bowl, at 5950 Old Collinsville Road in Fairview Heights.
“Allsup employees always demonstrate team spirit when it comes to our annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake,” said Barbara Cempura, Big Brothers Big Sisters president and CEO. “They help us get our campaign rolling in a big way, and it was even bigger this year.”
Despite recent economic difficulties, area businesses continue to find ways to support Big Brothers Big Sisters in its mission. Money raised at Allsup’s bowl will allow the organization to match 15 children with 15 mentors for 12 months. Ms. Cempura said that the average annual cost of a match is $1,000.
Dozens of Allsup teams, many decked in custom T-shirts and bowling shoes, enjoyed the music, refreshments and competition. “We appreciate the spirit of everyone who participates in this event,” said Kim Rist, human resources director. “It’s become a tradition for Allsup, and it’s fun to see people get into the T-shirt designs and the bowling competition.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters is holding several community Bowl for Kids’ Sake events throughout March until April 11. Funds raised will be used to recruit, screen, train and match adult volunteers with girls and boys through the nationally recognized mentoring program. For more information, visit

Ms. Cempura said she’s impressed with Allsup’s enthusiasm. “We see Big Brothers Big Sisters as providing a role model for children, and Allsup would be our role model for businesses,” she said. “It’s great to see a business support us like this.”
